Set on the foothills of Mt Kenya, Olepangi provides a beautiful, tranquil space for our guests to re-connect with nature, with themselves and the special people in their life. The Olepangi community is one of warmth; an embrace into a world where the day-to-day busy-ness of life can be forgotten. Rural and remote: the perfect place to be right now.
Olepangi House - 3 / 5 bedrooms, with private lounges
Olepangi House is our fabulous 5 bedroom house (sold on a 3 bedroom or 5 bedroom basis) with panoramic views north to the Lolldaigas and south to Mt Kenya. Tastefully decorated with antiques from the owner's far-reaching travels, this is the perfect place to reconnect with friends and family. The master bedroom enjoys it's own lounge area, separate bath and shower, dressing area and both north and south facing balconies with arguably the best views on the property.
The master bedroom is exquisite and features a 7-foot wide (king size) British Raj bed made in India dating from about 1840 and an antique Heriz carpet. The bed would have been used by a senior officer of the British military. It features stunningly carved bare-breasted angels in the headboard.
A further two bedrooms are made up as one double and one twin. When booking the whole 5 bedroom house, there is an additional double and twin room.
The large lounge area is full of interiors collected from Elizabeth and Clinton's travels with a large open fireplace, separate dining area, multiple verandahs, stunning gardens, outdoor dining and fire pit and a private kitchen with chef. A very special home from home!

Community Walks with Mr Kariuki
By far one of the most popular activities at Olepangi Farm is to go for a community walk with the Mr Kariuki, our neighbour, who can only be described as astonishing. Many of our guests go out with him more than once!

Ol Pejeta Conservancy
The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 90,000-acre (360 km2) not-for-profit wildlife conservancy in Central Kenya's Laikipia County. It is situated on the equator west of Nanyuki, between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy works to conserve wildlife, provide a sanctuary for great apes and to generate income through wildlife tourism and complementary enterprises for re-investment in conservation and community development.
The Conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, and in 2013 reached a population milestone of 100 black rhino. It also houses the two remaining northern white rhino in the world, who were moved here from Dvůr Králové Zoo in the Czech Republic. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is situated here, and provides a haven for orphaned, abandoned and rescued chimpanzees. It is the only place in Kenya where these great apes can be seen. The Conservancy is host to the "Big five game" among a large selection of other African animals, which makes it a popular safari destination. It also operates a successful livestock program, which serves to benefit local pastoralists and wildlife. Through the conservancy's community development programme, Ol Pejeta provides funding to surrounding communities to aid health, education, water and infrastructure projects. They also support the provision of agriculture and livestock extension services and the development of community-based conservation tourism ventures.

Horse riding on Mt Kenya
Horse rides on the slope of Mt Kenya . . . with every journey we wander amongst towering, heavily scented trees which cast a dappled light over the soft, green forest floor. We cross small streams and pass through pretty glades, where we occasionally see zebra, antelope and elephants. The grassy footing within parts of the forest lends itself to long trots and gentle uphill canters. There are also many fallen trees and logs to jump if you wish to add some more excitement to your ride.
There are many different routes that we can take. We can go for a shorter ride of 3 to 4 hours within the Forest Reserve, or a longer trip of 5 to 6 hours up to the moorlands where, emerging from the forest we are immediately confronted by a breath-taking, panoramic view of the Mount Kenya peaks. There are two options:
HALF DAY RIDE
This ride includes a classic picnic lunch consisting of homemade sandwiches and snacks, carried in saddlebags. During the course of the ride we find a pretty spot to rest, untack the horses and lay out our picnic blankets.
PRICE: US$200pp + US$100 for group transport
DURATION: 3-4 hours
FULLY DAY RIDE
This ride includes a delicious homemade lunch which you enjoy whilst seated at a table, in a beautiful secluded glade within the forest. Alcoholic refreshments of house wine and beer are included in the price.
PRICE: US$270pp + US$100 for group transport
