The Pool and Pool House

The living, breathing heart of the farm is the pool and pool house.  Literally in the centre of where it's all happening.  Breakfasts on the elevated deck on the backside to marvel at the mountain in all its glory in the morning.  Lunch under the shade during the day and sometimes dinner by candlelight next to the enormous fireplace.  And for those special occasions, a private dinner down on the new deck which is affectionately called "the love deck" . . . the name has stuck.


Designed also to biophilic principles using the ancient shapes of the "boteh" symbol or tree of life. Gorgeous natural lines flowing into one another, at harmony with the topography of the area.  It just feels good.  Stay awhile.  Watch the sun set.  Relax a wee bit in the sunshine.  The space is yours.

The Party House

Our guests have the run of the farm during their stay and our ‘Party House’ is a sensational space with soaring makuti-thatched ceiling, furnished with our personal collection of antique furniture, tribal textiles, oriental rugs and all kinds of interesting objets d’art collected from our travels around the world. Guests find a quiet escape in the sitting room with a book from our eclectic library or to enjoy afternoon tea or even join afternoon yoga on the deck. In the evening, the fire is lit and guests gather to enjoy drinks before dinner in the dining room.

Down by the River

In the heat of the day, there are plenty of spots to find a shady corner. One of our favourites, is under the ancient Strangler Fig tree (Ficus Thiongi, a sacred tree in Kikuyu culture) down by the Ngishishi river that runs along the north boundary of the farm. This is a lovely spot for afternoon tea in dappled light or a quiet drink whilst nestled in to a bean bag chair listening to sounds of river and the wind in the trees. Or why not take up a game of croquet. Old fashioned fun at its best.

In the Garden

Kenya is well known for it's incredible flower and vegetable production. The Laikipia is at the heart of this production as the soil is so rich and climate perfectly temperate for growing flowers and vegetables. Join our team in the vegetable and flower garden or simply explore by yourself. The bees will be busy collecting pollen for our honey and you are welcome to pick what you like, fresh from the soil.
